Consulate participation:   Organizes the presence of one float.  Specific objective:   Announce to the world the beginning of the Bicentennial festivities.

August 14th

El Rey” concert – Tribute to José Alfredo Jiménez.  

Time:  7:00 p.m. Venue:  Ford Amphitheater.  Audience type:          Mexican/International. Consulate participation:       Partnership (Los Angeles County Arts Commission). 

Particular objective:         Pay tribute to one of the most prolific composers of Mexican   popular music.

This conference will be presented by Dr. Manuel Aguilar Moreno, history professor for the California State University in Los Angeles.

 

He is a ph.D. on Latin American Studies with a specialty on Art History and Antropology from University of Texas in Austin. Expert on Mexican history.
